Earthquake!
On the 27th February, at about 1.00 AM, the UK was hit by an earthquake measuring about, depending on which source you check, 4.7 to 5.2 on the Richter scale. The quake was centred on the town of Market Rasen in Lincolnshire. Whilst small by many standards, this quake was at the top end of the scale as far as the UK is concerned. The last quake of this magnitude was about 25 years ago. The UK typically suffers from quakes at this scale once every 20-30 years. That was not a pleasant way to wake up in the night, and I wouldn't want to live in an earthquake zone, even though the quake epicentre was about 30 miles away. |
